A report based on nearly 720,000 military veterans between the ages of 40 and 99 was presented today at the annual Nutrition conference. The report reveals that eight key lifestyle factors could add up to 24 years to a man's life and over 22 years to a woman's life.

These factors aren’t new, but the study's significant number of participants included people of differing sexes, ages, socioeconomic status, race, etc. The eight key factors are:

  • Regular exercise

  • Avoiding opioid addiction

  • Avoiding all tobacco use

  • Managing stress

  • Eating a plant-based diet

  • No binge drinking

  • Getting plenty of sleep

  • Developing positive social relationships

Adding any one or a few of these factors could make significant improvements to anyone's life. Embracing all eight factors could have a dramatic, positive impact on your life. Moreover, it's never too late to start adopting these habits, no matter your age.
